Abstract

This article analyzes the psychological factors that prevent learners from speaking freely during the foreign language learning process. It examines the impact of fear of making mistakes, language anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and socio-cultural pressure on students' speaking performance. The paper also explains the main causes of these issues and proposes practical solutions, such as creating a psychologically safe learning environment, using small-group communication, applying gradual speaking activities, and increasing learners’ motivation. The article provides useful insights for teachers and language learners on understanding psychological barriers and effectively overcoming them.
